WHY US?
At LDN, we've been specialising in ACL rehabilitation since the beginning, helping patients recover from both surgical and non-surgical ACL injuries through a performance-led, data-driven approach.
Our team combines sports physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and objective testing to guide you safely and confidently from early recovery to full return to sport.
Our ACL & Return-to-Sport (RTS) programmes are grounded in years of experience with athletes across the NHS, Premier League, and international sport.
Whether you’ve undergone reconstruction or are managing conservatively, you’ll receive world-class rehabilitation tailored to your goals.
INTEGRATED SPORTS MEDICINE & SUPPORT
We work closely with leading orthopaedic consultants — including those at Fortius Clinic — ensuring seamless coordination between your surgeon’s plan and our evidence-based physiotherapy.
But that's not all. At LDN PHYSIO, ACL rehabilitation goes beyond traditional physiotherapy. You’ll have access to our multidisciplinary sports performance team, including sports massage therapists, sports osteopaths, sports dieticians, and sports psychologists — ensuring every aspect of your recovery is addressed.
This integrated approach allows us to:
-
Manage pain, stiffness, and tissue recovery with targeted soft tissue therapy and osteopathy
-
Optimise nutrition to support muscle repair, inflammation control, and performance adaptation
-
Provide psychological support around motivation, fear of re-injury, and return-to-play readiness
Every ACL journey is unique. Our collaborative model ensures you’re supported physically, nutritionally, and mentally through every stage of recovery.

LDN PHYSIO's ACL REHAB CLINIC
OUR ACL REHAB PHILOSOPHY
We use a stage-based, milestone-driven framework guided by objective testing, not arbitrary timeframes.
Every decision — from load progressions to return-to-sport clearance — is grounded in data.C
Core principles
Evidence-based, sport-specific rehabilitationIntegration of physiotherapy + performance conditioning
-
Objective strength / power / symmetry testing
-
Long-term knee health & injury prevention
-
Continuous communication with your medical team

You’ll work one-to-one with one of our ACL specialist physiotherapists. Each has extensive experience in ACL reconstruction, non-surgical ACL management, and complex knee rehab, guiding patients from early recovery to elite performance.
We collaborate closely with leading orthopaedic teams — including Fortius Clinic — to ensure your physiotherapy follows the exact post-operative or conservative protocol prescribed by your consultant.
Surgical ACL Rehabilitation Pathway
1. Prehabilitation (Before Surgery) Optimise strength & mobility to improve surgical outcomes.
2. Early Post-Op (Weeks 0 – 6) Pain & swelling control | Range restoration | Gait retraining | Muscle activation
3. Strength & Control Phase Progressive loading for quads, hamstrings & glutes | Balance & proprioception
4. Advanced Strength & Power Plyometric & agility drills | Acceleration / deceleration | Sport-specific conditioning
5. Return-to-Sport (RTS) Phase Bridging gym to pitch: On-field reconditioning Running mechanics & deceleration Reactive agility & sport-specific drills Psychological readiness & confidence
6. Objective Testing & Clearance Using ForceDecks, dynamometry, and hop testing to measure: Strength / power symmetry Rate of force development Dynamic control & landing mechanics Return-to-play readiness
Non-Surgical ACL Rehabilitation
Not every ACL tear requires surgery. For partial tears or stable knees, conservative rehabilitation can restore full function and stability. Our non-surgical ACL pathway uses the same high-performance framework as our surgical programme — focusing on strength, neuromuscular control, and long-term knee resilience. We aim to help you regain confidence, stability, and performance without unnecessary intervention.
Your programme includes:
-
Pain & swelling management
-
Range of motion & mobility restoration
-
Quadriceps / hamstring strength and kinetic chain strength development
-
Neuromuscular control & proprioception
-
Progressive running & agility work
-
Objective testing & injury-prevention planning
FAQs
What makes LDN PHYSIO a specialist ACL clinic?
We focus exclusively on performance-led ACL rehabilitation, using objective testing and progressive, milestone-based protocols rather than time-based recovery. Our physiotherapists have extensive experience working with professional athletes and complex ACL reconstructions. We have built our own ACL pathways and protocols, led by our most senior physiotherapists and regularly updated with the latest evidence.
Do you treat both surgical and non-surgical ACL injuries?
Yes. We work with both surgical and non-surgical ACL cases. Whether you’ve had reconstruction or are managing a partial tear conservatively, we’ll guide you through a structured, data-driven rehabilitation plan.
How soon after surgery can I start physiotherapy?
We always advise to start before your surgery where possible. But in most cases, you can begin early rehabilitation within the first one to two weeks post-surgery, once cleared by your consultant. Early activation, swelling control, and mobility restoration are key to long-term recovery.
Do you use objective testing like ForceDecks or dynamometry?
Absolutely. Every ACL patient undergoes strength and power testing using ForceDecks, dynamometry and functional movement analysis. These tools measure strength symmetry, power output and readiness to progress.
What does the Return-to-Sport (RTS) phase involve?
Our RTS phase bridges the gap between gym rehabilitation and full competition. For pitch-based athletes, this includes on-field conditioning, running mechanics, agility, decision-making drills, combined with objective clearance testing.
How long does full ACL rehabilitation take?
While every recovery is different, surgical ACL rehab typically lasts 9–12 months, depending on your progress and sport demands. Non-surgical cases often require 4–9 months of structured rehab to restore stability and performance.
Is this covered by my insurer?
Yes. We are recognised by Bupa, AXA, Vitality and all major insurers. Your physiotherapy sessions can be billed directly under your policy. Visit our Insurance Guide page if you are unsure.
